Susan
Fell in love with a boy in a future earth left devastated by Dalek invasion, so the Doctor, her grandfather, decided to leave her there without so much as a toothbrush. I think Social Services might have something to say about the Doctor’s parenting style.
Ian and Barbara
Used a Dalek time machine to return to their native time and lived happily ever after. No, seriously, they had a happy ending. I know, I was as shocked as you are.
Vicki
Fell in love with a Trojan warrior and decided to stay in Ancient Greece.
Katarina
After being taken hostage by an escaped prisoner named Kirksen, she chooses to open the airlock she’s being held in to prevent the Doctor giving in to Kirksen’s demands. The first companion to die.
Sara Kingdom
Caught in the field of the Time Destructor, a device that accelerates time, and rapidly ages while the Doctor and Steven watch helplessly. She is the second companion to die.
Steven
Left to host Blue Peter.
Dodo
Was brainwashed by an evil computer. Sent to the countryside to recuperate. Reportedly likes it there and decide to stay.

Met a Time Lord security guard. Said all of give words to him. Fell madly in love and decided to spend the rest of her life with him.
Romana I
Felt like a change so she regenerated.
Romana II
Not wanting to go back to Gallifrey, she decided to stay in E-Space.
Adric
Killed while trying (and failing) to stop a space ship crashing into prehistoric earth. The dinosaurs weren’t the only thing to go extinct that day.
Nyssa
Elected to stay on board Terminus in order to help turn the station into a real hospital (and find out what had happened to the rest of her clothes).
Tegan
After the carnage of Resurrection of the Daleks she decided that travelling with the Doctor was no longer any fun and left.

Got the chance to go back to his home planet and took it.
Peri
Was either killed after having her head shaved, memory wiped and an alien taking over her body, or was married to Brian Blessed. Not sure which is worse.

She decides to leave the Doctor and go travelling with the galactic confidence trickster Sabalom Glitz. Why?

After being made immortal by Rose, he is left on the Game Station by the Doctor so he could star in his own spin-off.
Mickey Smith
Sick of being a the tin dog to the Doctor and Rose, he decides to stay in another universe and care for his grandmother, who is alive in this reality.
Rose Tyler
Left trapped in a parallel world. Later comes back, but let’s not dwell on that travesty.
Martha Jones
Realised that the Doctor would never love her the same way he does Rose, so she decided enough was enough and left.
Donna Noble
Became a super-powered Human/Time Lord Hybrid and had to have her memory wiped so it wouldn’t exploded.
